We answer your questions:
What kitchen and cooking facilities are there?
La Petite Poche has been fitted with high quality, solid oak kitchen units. The work tops are tough melamine. We have a modern electric fan oven with 4 ring ceramic hob. Fitted above is stainless steel chimney hood. Electric, toaster, kettle and microwave with internal grill. There is a full set of saucepans, frying pan with lid, and utensils. We have a dining set for 4 persons complete with cutlery, place mats, glasses and mugs. A cafetiere, wine cooler, even special holders to eat l'escargo will be found in drawers. We provide table cloth and tea towels too. These are fresh and clean for the start of your stay.
Can I wash clothes and towels?
Yes you can. We have a washing machine with spin drier, so you are welcome to use it. Please replace any washing powder and conditioner for future guests. You are welcome to use the washing line at the bottom of next door's garden and there is normally a stock of pegs.
Is there enough garden furniture to enable all to eat outside, and is the BBQ large enough?
Yes, there is. We have table and chairs to seat four persons. Feel free to position the table and chairs on the terrace or lawn. Our BBQ will suit most outdoor cooking for 4 persons. We ask guests to replace the charcoal used, this is quite inexpensive to buy locally.
How far away are the nearest shopping facilities by foot/bike/car?
Ten minutes walk, or a few mins by bike. Car; one minute! Tempting if the heavens open.
Is there adequate seating in the lounge?
Yes there is. The settee will seat 2 - 3 persons. We have an armchair and an upright chair. We've made La Petite Poche comfortable to seat 4 persons.
Will the cottage have been cleaned immediately prior to our arrival, and what are the cleaning arrangements when we leave?
Yes, La Petite Poche will have been prepared and cleaned thoroughly the day of your arrival. All we ask you to ensure when you leave is that any washing up will have been done and put away, the beds are stripped and the house is generally tidy.
Will the equipment inventory have been checked before we arrive?
Yes it will. Nothing more annoying than a missing or broken piece of crockery or equipment to get off on the wrong foot. Any breakages or missing items will be replaced so that you not be inconvenienced.
Is there a key-holder available in case of problems?
Yes. Our property management company is a short distance from La Petite Poche. Run by Richard and Caroline, they are a French speaking British couple who live nearby and will be happy to assist or solve any problem that may arise. Their full contact details are provided in your Guest Pack.
Are there adequate parking facilities close to the property?
Yes. You are able to park off the road, directly in front of the house. Convenient for loading/ un-loading suitcases, shopping and belongings.
What heating facilities are there and is there an additional charge for usage?
La Petite Poche is equipped with portable plug-in electric heaters. Two - three kilowatt output which is sufficient to heat living areas and bedrooms nicely. In the months between September and April, we make a heating charge based on the actual electrical units consumed. Our meters are read immediately before and after your arrival at La Petite Poche and we deduct this amount from your deposit.
Is bed linen included in the cost?
Yes it is. We do not charge anything for bedlinen or towels. Your beds will be made ready the day of your arrival complete with fresh set of towels per person. All we ask you to do is strip the beds and leave everything ready for collection.
If I am going to arrive at an uncivilised hour, can I ask for some shopping to have been done?
Yes. Of course you can. Simply let us know in advance what you'd like and this will be taken care of for you. Clearly, we are unable to provide this service without a small charge and cost of items. Richard, our property manager will expect you to leave a cash payment (in Euros) to cover the bill for your purchases when you leave.
